Unicorn

As I said elsewhere on this website, I like
to do the uncommon, either in style or
skill. While most carvers think about doing
relief carving on ostrich eggs, I think about
doing it on rhea or goose eggs, which
present more of a challenge because they
are so much thinner. This unicorn I also
did on an unusually small ostrich egg
later, but the one you see here on a rhea
was the first time I attempted the design.
Even though the shell is much thinner, this
rhea unicorn seems every bit as deep and
as detailed as the one I did on the ostich
shell.
