The Purpose of this page...
...Is to introduce you to my line of egg art which I call "EggZotica." Every
single egg that you see in this collection was carved by hand by me, Gary
LeMaster. When you order a piece that I have, I will pack, insure and mail
it immediately. In a few cases, the stand might vary a bit from the one
shown, but that is only because I've found something better to complement
the carving itself since the photograph was taken. You might also see a
"Sold" sign on an egg that you had chosen. That's not a problem as I can
do another if you allow me some time, and it will look like the photo you
initially saw. However, no two of my eggs could ever be exactly alike since
they are all done by hand. The best I can do is to promise to do everything
possible to duplicate the original as close as I'm able. The only thing I
might have trouble matching is an egg that's a very rare shape, such as the
one I carved my "Cranes" into. Even at that, I make every effort to contact
breeders and find a match. When you order one of my pieces, you will also
receive a "Certificate of Authenticity" I sign to swear that what you are
getting is, in fact, a real egg and that I carved it by hand myself. It isn't
from China and no laser was involved.

I should add here my "mission statement" or the basic philosophy behind the creation of my artwork,
just in case you're interested. Oftentimes, I do abstracts, and I also enjoy doing non-representational art
every once in a while. Some people might not understand the thinking behind that type of art, but
knowing my basic tenets might change the viewer's perspective. Way back in the 18th century, a French
singer perfectly expressed what it is that I do as I pour my soul into my eggshells. He said, "The object of
art is to crystallize emotion into thought, and then fix it in form." That is an uncanny description of the
process I go through. Thus, there is a message in every egg I carve that I consider "art." The viewer does
not have to have the same thoughts or emotions that I did when I created the piece... it is enough only
that they be stirred in some way, that the piece create a "feeling" or a reaction in them. I have been
known to also dabble with eggs that end up being "craft," such as Christmas ornaments or simple
stencil-type designs. However, even though they may not carry any deeper meaning, the carving itself is
of the same quality as all my work and great deal of time is spent on the details. Almost all of my work is
influenced by philosophies of the Far East in terms of how I see Nature, how I strive for balance and the
effort I go to in order to imbue each of my pieces with a little bit of my soul.
So there you have it... if none of it made any sense, that's quite alright. Either way, just kick back and
take a look at the variety of eggs I include in my online Gallery. I can't help but think that, at the very
least, you'll enjoy your virtual journey. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you! ~GL
